CNC milling is suitable for a variety of materials, including both metallic and non-metallic materials.
Common metallic materials include aluminum alloys, stainless steel, carbon steel, and titanium alloys. Aluminum alloys are among the most commonly used materials due to their light weight and ease of machining. Titanium alloys are frequently used in the aerospace field; although they are more difficult to machine, they offer superior performance.
In the non-metallic field, plastics (such as ABS and nylon), composite materials, and engineering plastics are also commonly used in CNC milling, especially in prototyping and lightweight product manufacturing.
